Having ventured into jewellery retailing in 1993 in Thrissur, Kerala, Kalyan Jewellers has 141 showrooms spread across India and GCC countries. Kalyan offers an array of traditional and contemporary jewellery designs in gold, diamond, and other precious stones and metals. Kalyan has always believed that the customer needs to be educated and made aware, as this is the first step in preventing malpractices in business. As part of this philosophy, they have conducted campaigns over the years to educate customers about purity, pricing and other aspects of the jewellery.
These efforts of Kalyan have gone a long way in the industry, that is now becoming more transparent towards the customer’s interests. The company believes that this is their legacy to the industry. Inspired by trust they have earned across varied markets, the company will soon be expanding into newer markets both domestic and international.
CSR Initiatives
Kalyan Jewellers has been an early adopter of CSR initiatives. Over the past 25 years, Kalyan has created a space for itself in the society not just as a retail brand, but also as a company that ‘cares’.
In keeping with its tradition of serving the communities in which it operates, Kalyan has contributed to CSR through projects that fall under four main categories, which include infrastructure and housing, disaster relief, health and education. These broad spectrums were identified to ensure that need appropriate interventions were carried out within specific communities.
Providing housing for the homeless: Under the infrastructure and housing ambit, Kalyan partnered with Habitat For Humanity, an organization recognized the world over for its strong commitment to the cause of home building, and worked in tandem with the Centre’s vision and scheme of Housing For All and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. More than 900 families in Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh directly benefited from this initiative. Closer home, Kalyan partnered with the Kerala government’s Bhoomigeetham Project with a focus on housing as well as rural development and sanitation. The company has contributed heavily to the said project and is one of their flagship CSR projects. Kalyan received many positive acknowledgements for the successful completion of the said project.
Home for Homeless is also a remarkable social contribution by Kalyan. The company is proposing to construct ten flats in Thrissur for economically backward people. They have already contributed a good sum as an initial contribution for this project.
Working on disaster relief activities: Since the Kerala floods of 2018, Kalyan has been working closely with the state government and NGO partners on disaster relief activities. The support has since been extended to other regions across the country affected by natural calamities.
Creating awareness on cancer: Health is another key focus area. Kalyan worked closely with media partner Malayala Manorama to create awareness about cancer, the need for early detection and treatment. Under the ‘Kerala Can’ banner, early detection camps were conducted, and financial support given to deserving patients. The company is also working closely with the outreach arm of Amala Institute of Medical Sciences and Shivasramam Shirdhisai Mission Trust, on a need based model.
Apart from this, Kalyan is directly bearing the medical expenses of economically backward groups based on the references and requests received from the public.

Supporting infrastructure development in schools: Education has been identified as another deserving area, and the company has supported and facilitated the education of many children with the help of partner organisations like the Devamatha Institute, Blooms School, Thrissur Management Association and YAS Public Charitable Trust. As a part of this initiative, Kalyan has been supporting the development of basic infrastructure requirements of many schools and education trusts.
Kalyan has undertaken the initiative to carry out education sponsorship programme of many children in various cities of Kerala. Further, Kalyan has directly undertaken the educational expenses of many children in various places.
