KP Chair Meets With Joint Secretary, Commerce Dept. To Discuss KP Initiatives

In a pivotal meeting held today 11th June in New Delhi, Mr. Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chair of the Kimberley Process (KP) for 2024, met with Mr Siddharth Mahajan, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and focal point of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) in India, for discussions that underscored the collaborative efforts in advancing KP objectives.
Mr. Mahajan acknowledged the KP Chair’s leadership and the successful hosting of the KP Intersessional Meeting in Dubai. He highlighted the effective and results-oriented approach of the UAE Chairmanship, particularly the adoption of the Administrative Decision (AD) on Co-Chairmanship and Co-Vice Chairmanship, where India played a crucial role in achieving consensus. Emphasising the importance of the slogan “Year of Delivery” for 2024, Mr Mahajan reiterated India’s support for the UAE’s commitment to tangible outcomes.
