GJEPC Highlights Focus on Skill Development and Reforms for G&J Sector at ET MSME Summit

The Economic Times organised a panel discussion during the “MSME – Make in India Summit” held in Ahmedabad on 27th May, 2023. The panel discussion featured Mr. Vijay Mangukiya, Regional Chairman – Gujarat, GJEPC, who was invited to represent the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the gem and jewellery industry in the region.

The Regional Chairman engaged in insightful discussions on various critical aspects during the panel. One of the significant points highlighted by Mr. Mangukiya was the pressing need for skill development and training within the MSME sector. Recognising the importance of improving the capabilities and expertise of the workforce, he stressed the necessity of investing in skill development programs and training initiatives.

In addition to skill development, the Regional Chairman also delved into a detailed discussion on reforms aimed at enhancing Gujarat’s gem and jewellery sector. Recognising the challenges faced by the industry, the Chairman emphasised the urgency of introducing reforms that would facilitate growth and development.

A key aspect highlighted during the discussion was the adoption of digitalisation by the gem and jewellery industry. Mr. Mangukiya explained how the industry is embracing digital technologies and upgrading its operations to stay competitive.
