GJEPC Holds Outreach Program in Kashmir to Boost Jewellery Exports

GJEPC in collaboration with the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Jammu, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. (ECGC) organised its inaugural outreach program in Kashmir on 29th August, 2024, in Srinagar, aiming to boost the region’s jewellery export industry. The event was attended by over 62 merchants and exporters from the jewellery and handicrafts sector.

The program featured a keynote address by Mr. Vikramjit Singh, IPS, Commissioner/Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Singh highlighted the region’s untapped potential in the gem and jewellery industry and pledged government support to local associations and artisans.

Mr. Ashok Seth, Regional Chairman North, GJEPC, emphasised the importance of membership for exporters and the abundant skilled artisans in Kashmir. He expressed confidence in the region’s ability to nurture the growth of jewellery exports.

Representatives from the GJEPC, DGFT, ECGC, and the KCCI also participated in the program, providing valuable insights into export procedures, financing options, and industry best practices.
