Day 4 of GJEPC’S Exporter Mentorship FAM Program Explores Certification, Market Trends & the Sharjah Show

Day four of GJEPC’s 4th batch of the Exporter Mentorship Programme (EMP), being held from 22nd to 26th September in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, continued with experiential learning and market visits:

  • SGL (Solitaire Gemmological Laboratories) Experience Centre: Delegates observed certification processes and identification of natural vs. lab-grown diamonds. A senior delegate with a 150-year business legacy remarked, “If I had missed this session, I would have missed a big lesson in business.”
  • Karama Market: Known as the dedicated hub for South Indian jewellery, Karama offered delegates exposure to trending designs for the southern audience, including temple jewellery and kundan jewellery. Exporters expressed strong confidence about the opportunities this market holds.
  • Meena Bazaar (Drive-through): Delegates explored this vibrant market, a hotspot for the Indian diaspora, where 70% of the customer base is North Indian. The drive-through highlighted jewellery preferences shaped by cultural and regional demand.
  • Sharjah Show – 56th Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show: The day concluded with a visit to the Sharjah Expo Centre to attend the long-awaited jewellery exhibition in the Middle East, offering delegates a firsthand look at the scale and diversity of the regional market.

The day’s engagements gave delegates a well-rounded perspective, combining technical learning with real-world market exposure, and reinforcing the vast opportunities for Indian exporters in the Middle East jewellery landscape.
