GJEPC Launches PM Vishwakarma Training in Hupari Silver Cluster; First Batch Begins with 40 Candidates

GJEPC launched the PM Vishwakarma training programme in Hupari, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, to boost artisan skills and the export potential of one of India’s largest silver jewellery manufacturing clusters.

Implemented through GJEPC’s Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ), the initiative will provide specialised training to artisans, with the training cost being borne by the Government of India under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.

The first training batch has successfully commenced with 40 registered candidates. The launch event also drew participation from an additional 20 attendees, underlining growing awareness and interest in the scheme among the local artisan community.

The initiative is expected to play an important role in strengthening the skills of traditional karigars and craftspeople in Hupari, a cluster known for its rich silver craftsmanship. The centre has the capacity to train more than 500 candidates in the coming months under the PM Vishwakarma programme.
