GJEPC participated in a thematic seminar on “Trade, Investment & Enterprise: A New West Bengal Growth Path”, organised by the Chintan Research Foundation (CRF) in partnership with IIFT Kolkata.
The seminar held on 10th September brought together policymakers, senior government officials, industry leaders, academics and other stakeholders to discuss measures to build a competitive, investment-friendly and globally connected West Bengal. Dr. Swapan Dasgupta, Finance Minister, Government of West Bengal, was among the key speakers.
Representing GJEPC, Executive Director Sabyasachi Ray highlighted the contribution of gems and jewellery MSMEs to employment, manufacturing and exports. He called for stronger logistics and trade infrastructure, improved access to finance and technology, skill development, market linkages and targeted support to help MSMEs scale up, formalise and integrate with global value chains.
Ray also highlighted the potential of West Bengal’s traditional jewellery clusters and skilled artisan base to contribute more significantly to export-led growth and enterprise development.
