Jaipur’s Gems & Jewellery Industry Unites for Skill Development

Key stakeholders in Jaipur’s gems and jewellery industry have come together to address the growing demand for skilled workers. GJEPC’s Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) Jaipur, the Jewellers Association Jaipur (JAJ), the Sitapura Gems and Jewellery Industry Association (SGJIA), and Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) have joined forces to launch a pilot training program focused on gemstone cutting and polishing.

The initiative aims to train 25 carefully selected candidates, who will undergo training at IIGJ Jaipur. JAJ will sponsor the raw materials, while JJS will cover training fees and provide stipends to the trainees. The MSME-DI Jaipur has also extended its support to the program under the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Program (ESDP) scheme.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the four organisations formalises their commitment to this collaborative effort. GJEPC has played a crucial role in facilitating this partnership and aligning it with national skill development objectives.

Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will be placed within the industry with the support of JAJ and SGJIA. This focus on placement ensures that the skills acquired will be directly applied in real-world settings.
