US Black Friday Jewellery Sales See Modest Gain

Jewellery held its ground this Black Friday as American consumers pushed overall retail sales higher. Mastercard SpendingPulse reported a 4.1% rise in US retail sales (excluding autos) on 28 November, signalling steady festive demand across categories.

Jewellery sales grew 2.75%, supported by a 4.2% jump in online purchases. The broader surge in e commerce, which rose 10.4% compared with 1.7% in store, helped lift discretionary gifting categories, including fine jewellery.

For Indian jewellery exporters watching seasonal sentiment in the US, the numbers point to a market that remains receptive to considered gifting even in a cautious economic climate.
