GJEPC Highlights Key Policy Priorities at Hon’ble CIM’s Export Promotion Mission Review Meeting

GJEPC highlighted the industry’s key policy priorities during a meeting chaired by Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, with Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and industry associations in New Delhi on 24 June to review the Export Promotion Mission (EPM). Ashish Borda, Convenor – PMBD, GJEPC, and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC, represented the Council at the meeting.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) presented the status of schemes rolled out under the EPM, budget allocations, and expectations from EPCs to maximise industry participation and export growth.

GJEPC thanked the government for its efforts to improve the availability of duty-free precious metals for exporters and welcomed the registration of Kolkatti Jewellery under the Geographical Indication (GI) framework. The Council requested government support to promote the GI product globally under the EPM.

The Council also informed the Minister that gems and jewellery consignments worth US$6.5 million from 18 exporters are ready for shipment to the UK following the implementation of the India-UK CETA from 15 July 2026. GJEPC sought EPM support for its 2nd India-UK Buyer-Seller Meet in London on 7-8 July.

Additionally, GJEPC urged the government to include cut and polished diamonds and diamond-studded jewellery under the proposed India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement and the Interest Subvention Scheme to support micro and small exporters.
