Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, thanked Shri Rajesh Agarwal, Commerce Secretary, for the passage of the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which provides a 15-year income-tax exemption for eligible foreign companies engaged in rough diamond trading through India’s Special Notified Zones.

The measure, long advocated by GJEPC, is aimed at creating a more competitive tax framework for international rough diamond traders and strengthening India’s position as a global rough diamond trading hub. During the meeting,

Mr. Bhansali invited Shri Agarwal to attend the Chintan Shivir at Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC, SEEPZ, Mumbai, on 19 August. Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC, and Mr. Hitesh Shah, Partner, Venus Jewel, joined Mr. Bhansali during the meeting.
