A series of workshops on the identification of lab-grown diamonds will be held in India in October 2024, featuring renowned diamond expert Branko Deljanin from the Canadian Gemmological Laboratory (CGL).
The workshops, organised in association with the HRD Antwerp and Basil Labs, will take place in Mumbai and Hyderabad on 3rd and 9th October respectively. Deljanin, a leading researcher in the field, will conduct lectures and practical sessions on the testing and identification of loose and mounted diamonds, including those grown using HPHT (high-pressure, high-temperature) and CVD (chemical vapor deposition) methods.
The workshops aim to equip participants with the skills necessary to accurately identify both natural and synthetic diamonds using various testing methods and portable instruments. Key topics covered will include the use of fluorescence as a screening technique, cross-polarised filters for observing birefringence, and portable spectrometers for identifying different types of diamonds.
