Chennai Jeweller H.M. Sultan Mohideen Gets TOI’s ‘Icons of Tamil Nadu’ Award

The Times of India newspaper honoured Chennai-based jewellery retailer and noted gemmologist H.M. Sultan Mohideen (extreme left) with the ‘Icons of Tamil Nadu’ Award for excellence in the field of gems and jewellery on 23rd October. The award was presented by Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Minister for School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu.

Mohideen commented, “I am a product of the GJEPC. I began my journey in 1980 in Jaipur at the Gemstone Artisan Training School, Jhalana Mahal, which was started by the GJEPC. I ranked first in the institute and that helped me in going to the US, because I’m a first-generation entrepreneur and was not originally from the jewellery trade.”
