GIA India Hosts Graduation Ceremony For Diamond Diploma Students In Surat

GIA India held a graduation ceremony for students of its Graduate Diamond Diploma Program in Surat. The chief guest for the ceremony, Dinesh Navadia, Regional Chairman – Gujarat, Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), handed over the certificates to the students.

Sharing his years of insight on the diamond industry with the students, Navadia said, “The diamond industry has seen historic exports since the Covid-19 pandemic. This has led to a huge demand for skilled manpower who can meet international requirements and also achieve highest levels of quality. The skill-based training by GIA will play an important role in meeting this demand for skilled manpower in the diamond industry.”

Congratulating the students, Apoorva Deshingkar, Senior Director – Education and Market Development, said, “GIA invented the 4Cs (colour, clarity, cut and carat weight) of diamond quality and the International Diamond Grading System™ – standards used around the world by the gem and jewellery industry. These global standards, combined with our research-backed curriculum, experienced instructors and practical exposure, ensure that our students receive quality education. This, in turn, will help them succeed in their careers and contribute towards the growth of the diamond industry.”

The GIA Graduate Diamonds Diploma Program examines the technical expertise needed to grade, buy, and sell diamonds with the insight of a seasoned professional. This diploma program explores the GIA diamond grading procedures to assess the 4Cs – colour, clarity, cut and carat weight – and how they affect diamond value. Students use professional diamond grading equipment for the purposes of examining a diamond’s quality characteristics to grade and identify diamonds.
