GJEPC & Commerce Minister Discuss Policy Support Required To Achieve G&J Export Target Of $45 Billion For FY 2022-23

Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, held a meeting with the GJEPC officials on 15th April to discuss the gem and jewellery export target for the fiscal year 2022-2023 and issues pertaining to the trade.

Also present at the meeting were B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Commerce Secretary and Vipul Bansal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

Colin Shah, Chairman, GJEPC; Vipul Shah, Vice Chairman, GJEPC; and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC presented the export target for the sector that was set at $45 billion for FY 2022-23.

GJEPC also presented the requisite policy support required to achieve the set target that included the abolition of the Equalisation Levy, and implementation of a Presumptive Tax Regime for Special Notified Zones (SNZs) among others.
