A joint team from the GJEPC and EXIM Bank visited Surat, a key jewellery manufacturing hub in India, on October 24th and 25th, 2024. The objective was to understand the challenges faced by manufacturers and develop strategies to boost jewellery exports from the region.
The team visited Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd., a leading diamond company, to gain insights into technological advancements, export challenges, and opportunities in areas like design, financing, e-commerce, etc. Meetings were held with the Surat Jewellery Manufacturer Association, Lab Grown Diamond Association, and Surat Diamond Association. Discussions focused on streamlining export processes, adopting innovative technologies, and exploring new global markets.
On the second day, the delegation visited M/s. Green Lab, a manufacturer specialising in lab-grown diamonds. Discussions centred around the future of lab-grown diamonds as a segment and addressing challenges within the cluster. The team also visited Elvee Jewels Pvt. Ltd., a supplier of jewellery to major brands.
The gathered information will be used to develop targeted interventions that address the specific constraints identified in Surat’s jewellery manufacturing clusters.
