GJEPC, in association with FedEx, organised a seminar in Jaipur to help exporters understand how to ship small parcels, including e-commerce consignments, through the courier mode in a compliant and hassle-free manner.
The seminar follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GJEPC and FedEx, which provides GJEPC members with preferential services and freight rates. Addressing the session, Ravinder Panthri, Managing Director – Sales, FedEx, travelled from Mumbai to interact with exporters and outline the company’s dedicated courier solutions for the gems and jewellery sector.
Panthri acknowledged GJEPC’s role in working closely with FedEx to develop and operationalise a courier export solution tailored to the industry’s requirements.
During the presentation, FedEx informed members that its courier service is currently available for shipments valued up to US$2,500 to destinations in the US and Europe. The company also announced that, following GJEPC’s request, it is evaluating an increase in the shipment value limit, while also considering the addition of more origin cities and destination countries. Exporters at the seminar urged FedEx to prioritise services for Thailand, Hong Kong, the UAE, Japan and Australia.
FedEx confirmed that the service currently supports exports of loose natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds (LGD), coloured gemstones (CGS) and jewellery.
Responding to another request from GJEPC, FedEx also assured members that it would immediately enable exporters from cities where the service is not yet active to drop off export consignments at existing FedEx locations. The move is expected to improve access for exporters based in remote locations by allowing them to use the nearest FedEx facility for courier exports.
