GJEPC raised key procedural concerns during a post-Budget interaction with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in Mumbai on 12 February 2026, where discussions centred on Customs Reforms and Tariff Simplification announced in the Union Budget.
The meeting was chaired by Vivek Chaturvedi, Chairman, CBIC, along with Yogendra Garg, Member (IT, Taxpayer Services & Technology), and attended by EPCs, trade associations and chambers. GJEPC was represented by Mital Doshi, Convener, BITC; K.K. Duggal, Senior Director – Policy; and Mithilesh Pandey, Senior Director.
GJEPC pointed out that IFSC code approvals have been automated on ICEGATE and urged Customs to introduce a similar one-time registration system in place of the current manual process. JS Customs replied that the Directorate General of Export Promotion (DGEP) will revisit and re-examine the proposal.
GJEPC also sought retrospective relief on the height variance issue, with JS (Customs) indicating that developments are expected soon.
