The third edition of the ICC Diamond Conclave 2026 was held on 29 September in Kolkata, under the theme “India Shining – Grow with Diamonds.” The conclave was organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), with GJEPC as Co-Partner of the 7th ICC Gems & Jewellery Summit 2026.
The programme brought together industry leaders and experts for discussions on the future of India’s diamond and jewellery sector, with a focus on strengthening the country’s position across the global value chain.
Shri Swapan Dasgupta, Hon’ble Finance Minister, Govt. of West Bengal, addressed the conclave, speaking about the diamond industry’s role in India’s economic and cultural landscape. He highlighted West Bengal’s craftsmanship and entrepreneurial capabilities and the potential for the state to participate more strongly in the global diamond value chain.
The Minister also spoke about the importance of innovation, ethical practices and sustainable growth, while outlining the government’s focus on an industry-friendly policy environment.
Addressing the Conclave, Shri Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, highlighted India’s global leadership in diamond manufacturing, built over decades through manufacturing excellence, skilled manpower and the trust of buyers worldwide.
Bhansali emphasised the need for the industry to move further up the value chain through finished jewellery, design, craftsmanship and branding, enabling Indian businesses to capture greater value and strengthen their presence in international markets.
Bhansali noted that Bengal’s creativity and design capabilities can contribute to the development of globally recognised Indian jewellery brands.
