The upcoming ‘The Exceptionals’ auction showcases the artistry emerging from both India and Europe. The jewellery curation consists of an exquisite assortment of coveted pieces, including traditional Indian jewellery and Western-style jewellery.

Jay Sagar, Jewellery Expert, AstaGuru Auction House, notes: “Several pieces feature rare and sought-after gemstones such as Zambian emeralds, Burmese rubies, natural diamonds and diamonds of impeccable quality. There will also be a mix of pieces inspired by and from the Art Deco period, a prominent and influential design movement from the early 1900s. Also of note are pieces from revered jewellery brands such as Cartier and Tiffany, styles of which remain relevant and popular today.”

The curation for the auction is a meticulous process and takes nearly two-and-a-half months. Sagar states, “I focus on finding unique and rare pieces that people may not find in everyday life. This auction, particularly, showcases extremely interesting lots that captivated me when I saw them. The selection is an amalgamation of understated elegant pieces as well as elaborate statement jewellery. Personally, I find great joy and satisfaction in finding unique jewellery and gemstones that showcase the epitome of craftsmanship, and I believe it reflects in this auction’s collection as well. Not only do these pieces cater to seasoned collectors but to first-time buyers looking to start their collection.”

Among several impressive vintage brooches that collectors will find of interest, the auction also has two lots of Viren Bhagat, one of which is a pair of carved emerald and diamond ear clips and the other a carved emerald and diamond ring. “The old European cut diamond ring by Mellerio, the iconic Parisian jeweller, is an unusual find that pleasantly surprised me,” Sagar reveals.
