WFDB: Aid Pours In For India Covid Relief

At a time when India’s healthcare system is reeling under the catastrophic impact of the second covid wave, the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) has come forward to enable support to procure medicines, oxygen concentrators and health equipment. The WFDB has initiated a fundraising campaign for covid relief in India, at www.campaign.wfdb.com that appeals to the international diamond and jewellery industry. The initiative aims to procure vital medicines and critical equipment to help the country tide over the situation.

“An appeal made to over 20,000 members by WFDB is seeing success as donations are pouring in to aid India in this crucial time,” WFDB said in a statement. To promote the campaign, a webinar was organised by WFDB ‘Young Diamantaire Club’ member Prernaa Makhariaa, a jewellery influencer and blogger from India. The speakers included Yoram Dvash, President WFDB; Rami Baron, Founder, Young Diamantaires Club and a diamond industry leader from India.

Speaking during the session, Dvash stated, “India has always played a pivotal role in the diamond supply chain and has been in the forefront in supporting global causes and it is now time for WFDB and world diamond members to rise to the situation and help India tide over by aiding procurement of vital medicines and health equipment.”

Baron too pledged support for India from the WFDB and the Young Diamantaires Club. WFDB noted that the funds raised through the campaign will be distributed by the Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation (GJNRF).
