Coloured gemstone miner Gemfields hosted a book signing event in Jaipur on 1st August for the recently published book, ‘No Stone Unturned: The Hunt for African Gems’, authored by journalist and storyteller, Richa Goyal Sikri.

Commissioned by Gemfields in 2020, the book is a captivating collection of 24 short adventure stories based on real-life experiences related to coloured gemstones from Africa.

The event was well attended by around 60 luminaries from the coloured gemstone industry in Jaipur, including Gemfields’ customers and executive body members of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Jaipur Jewellers Association (JJA) and Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS).

Gopal Kumar, Director and General Manager for Gemfields India Pvt. Ltd., welcomed the attendees and introduced the evening’s proceedings. In her presentation, Richa Goyal Sikri, shared exclusive insights into the stories contained within the book, offering a deeper understanding of the fascinating world of African gemstones.

Sikri said: “Jaipur is one of the premier global hubs for coloured gemstones, making it an honour to participate at a Gemfields’ event for my book ‘No Stone Unturned’ with the crème de la crème of the Jaipur gem industry. Additionally, one of the most extensive stories in the book highlights Mr. Shiv Shankar (SS) Gupta, the co-founder of the Kagem emerald mine, who is widely regarded as a key figure in the expansion of Jaipur’s emerald processing industry, especially during the seventies and eighties.”

A highlight of the evening was the storytelling session, where four distinguished gem-industry veterans from Jaipur – Dharmendra Tank, Manoj Dhandia, Sunil Mittal, and Rahim Ullah – whose real-life stories are featured within the book, engaged with the audience.
