Angola’s Endiama and Sodiam Join Natural Diamond Council, Pledge $8 Million

Angola’s two leading state-owned diamond companies, ENDIAMA E.P. and SODIAM E.P., have announced their joint entry into the Natural Diamond Council (NDC) as contributing members, effective 1st July 2025. This strategic move reflects Angola’s deepening role in the global diamond industry and its commitment to championing the natural diamond story through international category marketing.

As the world’s third-largest producer of natural diamonds and a hotspot for future deposit discoveries, Angola’s decision strengthens its position as a responsible, forward-looking force in the trade. Through its NDC membership, Angola aims to further promote transparency, sustainability, and consumer awareness of the enduring value of natural diamonds.

“With Angola’s diamond industry on the rise, promoting the values and socioeconomic contributions of natural diamonds is a national priority,” stated Diamantino Azevedo, Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas. “By joining the Natural Diamond Council, Endiama and Sodiam are formalizing our dedication to a global strategy that highlights the unmatched benefits of natural diamonds to new generations of consumers.”

“We are thrilled to welcome ENDIAMA and SODIAM to the NDC at such a pivotal time for the industry,” said David Kellie, CEO of Natural Diamond Council. “Their membership will significantly enrich our collective voice in sharing the powerful story of natural diamonds rooted in positive impact, rarity, and authenticity.”

Richa Singh, Managing Director, Natural Diamond Council, India & Middle East, said, “Diamonds are symbols of love, tradition, and meaningful connections. Welcoming ENDIAMA and SODIAM to the Natural Diamond Council strengthens our shared commitment to educate and inspire consumers, helping them make informed choices rooted in authenticity and positive impact. This partnership is a vital step in telling the true story of natural diamonds and supporting the communities behind them.”

ENDIAMA and SODIAM have committed $8 million to support the NDC’s global campaign in the second half of 2025, a key commercial period for the industry. In response, De Beers, an existing NDC member, has pledged to match this contribution with an additional $8 million this year.

With this move, ENDIAMA and SODIAM join other NDC members including De Beers, Okavango Diamond Company, Petra Diamonds, Rio Tinto, and Murowa — reinforcing the collective industry effort to promote the lasting value and positive legacy of natural diamonds worldwide.
