Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK) reported that it has become the first company in the world to produce carbon-negative natural polished diamonds. The announcement was made on June 25th to coincide with World Decarbonisation Day.
According to SRK, the company has achieved a negative carbon footprint of –0.239 kg CO₂e per carat of polished rough diamond. At an organisational level, SRK has offset more emissions than it generated, reporting a climate-positive footprint of –893 metric tonnes of CO₂e.
This achievement has been independently verified by Deutsch Quality Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd., in accordance with international standards, including ISO 14064-1:2018, ISO 14067:2018, and ISO 14068-1:2023, as well as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
