The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is participating in the State-Level Workshop on Leveraging Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) – Outreach Programme, being held on 3 November 2026 at the Grand Hyatt, Gurugram, Haryana.
Organised by the Directorate of MSME, Government of Haryana, the workshop is themed “Translating India’s Free Trade Agreements into Global Market Opportunities for Haryana”. The programme aims to familiarise exporters with opportunities arising from India’s FTAs, preferential market access and government initiatives supporting export growth.
GJEPC is represented by five Council members and two exporters, who are attending the programme to understand emerging trade opportunities and engage with government officials and industry stakeholders.
The workshop is being held in the presence of Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana, and Shri Rao Narbir Singh, Minister of Industries & Commerce, Government of Haryana.
Commenting on the initiative, Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, said “India’s Free Trade Agreements open up significant opportunities for Indian exporters to expand their presence in international markets. These agreements, spanning partners including the UAE, Australia, the EFTA nations, the United Kingdom, Oman, New Zealand and the European Union, have transformed the export landscape for our sector. India’s FTA partner countries together import over US$ 55 billion of jewellery annually, and preferential and zero-duty access to these markets places Indian gems and jewellery on a decisively stronger competitive footing.
“The key is to understand the benefits available under each agreement and translate preferential market access into actual business. Such outreach programmes are important in helping exporters, particularly MSMEs, understand the procedures, compliance requirements and opportunities available to them. Greater awareness of these agreements can help businesses diversify into new markets, expand their global footprint and strengthen India’s position in global trade.”
The programme features sessions by senior officials from the Department of Commerce, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO). Key topics include preferential market access, FTA opportunities for Haryana’s priority sectors, navigating non-tariff measures, export procedures, the Export Promotion Mission (EPM), Districts as Export Hubs (DEH) and the Trade Connect Portal.
A presentation highlighted Haryana’s position as India’s sixth-largest exporting state, with merchandise exports of US$ 20.6 billion in FY2025-26, accounting for 4.7% of India’s exports, and export growth of 7.7% during the year.
