Alrosa informed that its International (or Inter) underground diamond mine resumed operations on 30th June at 00.00 am local time (GMT+9) after a short downtime.
This decision was made by the management of the Mirny Mining and Processing Division as the majority of workers and contractors tested negative for Covid-19. The laboratory in Yakutsk confirmed 12 cases of Covid-19 among the mine employees, who are being treated. Test samples with questionable results were re-sent for verification.
The Inter mine’s operations resumed in a two-shift mode. The company reported that the mine staff don’t come into contact with contractors working at surface facilities and the headcount of the latter has been reduced to a minimum. Mine employees waiting for the confirmation of test results remain furloughed.
The company’s management also said that regular testing for coronavirus will continue until the stabilisation of the Covid-19 situation on the national level. The company will pay special attention to all cases of flu and acute respiratory infections among personnel and provide testing for Covid-19 to ensure health and safety of workers and their families.
