Dharmanandan Diamonds is into manufacturing diamonds of various shapes and sizes, ranging from 0.01 to 10 carats to 0.18 – 10.00 carats. The company mainly focuses on cutting and polishing quality diamonds, which it sells to retailers and jewellers across the globe. The Sightholder of De Beers Group of Companies, Dharmanandan has created an unmatched aura of purity. Spread over 5,00,000sq. ft area with modern hi-tech infrastructure, the jewellery company has about 7,000 well-trained employees, and produces about 5,00,000 carats of polished diamonds a year. CSR Initiatives

Dharmanandan Diamonds has always struck a balance between achieving corporate excellence and fulfilling corporate responsibility, therefore their priority has been an all-round development of communities in which they operate. Dharmanandan Charitable Trust has been institutionalized as a way of life for its employees and the society in general. At Dharmanandan, they believe that all their resources have sprung from society and hence the company attempts to return the favour through various social activities. The Trust is involved majorly in healthcare and education of its employees, their family and people around. While they aspire that their high-end products will touch the hearts of millions around the world, their cognisant is firmly grounded through a series of CSR initiatives.

Organizing Swachhta Abhiyan: To encourage participation of citizens in the cleanliness drive for a hygienic environment, Dharmanandan organized a Swachhta Abhiyan as part of Social Initiative Mission 2017. More than 500 volunteers joined their Swachhta Abhiyan on 26 February 2017, which was organized in association with Surat Municipal Corporation to spruce up streets and commercial corridors located in Gotalawadi area of Surat and nearby neighbourhoods.

Save the Girl Child mega campaign: A social imbalance was observed in Gujarat due to an alarming decline in the number of females against male. To maintain the ratio, Laljibhai, founder, Dharmanandan Diamonds, decided to run a massive movement against female foeticide. A ‘Maha Laddu Beti Bachao Abhiyan’ was organized in which a handful of grain and a glass of water was collected from 2,35,000 households to create a gigantic bundi laddu of 3,00,000kg with a diameter of 65ft and height of 35ft. A six-page informative booklet (1,70,000 copies) was distributed throughout the state with an appeal to stop female foeticide and cultivate an atmosphere of equality towards girl child. There was a massive gathering of 12,00,000 people from entire Gujarat who took oath to never undertake female foeticide and also prevent others doing the same.

Execution of river linking and water conservation project: The river linking project is the first of its kind that was successfully executed in India. The project was aimed to provide resolution to a perennial problem of water scarcity in the village of Ugamedi in Botad district of Gujarat. For years, Saurastra has been facing shortage of water. Growing up as a farmer’s son, Laljibhai has always been concerned about rainwater conservation. To resolve this problem, water conservation of large capacity was necessary. River Sonal filled the ponds of this village, however, due to weak monsoon the huge ponds remained waterless. To start with, Laljibhai got three ponds dug up in his native village Ugamedi. These ponds were 3.5km in length, 45ft of depth and 400ft of width that could store nearly 2.5 crore litres of fresh water, making them the largest artificial ponds in Gujarat. He also got diverted water from River Keri that was flowing away to the ocean to River Sonal by RCC pipeline of 3ft diameter to fill three huge ponds.

Safe City Surat project: Ensuring safety of the city of Surat, the then Police Commissioner, Shri Rakesh Asthana and his team appointed Laljibhai as President of Traffic Education Trust in 2011 and planned to install CCTV cameras in the city under PPP model. The people of Surat donated `30 crore for the project. The city is now under surveillance of 604 HD-CCTV cameras. Moreover, Dharmanandan has always been advocating people to follow traffic guidelines. In order to spread traffic awareness and to educate people, Dharmanandan also organized a motorcycle rally.

Clean Ganga Mission: Dharmanandan bought an exclusively tailored suit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he had worn during the historical trip of US President Barack Obama on 25 January 2015 ahead of 66th Republic Day of India. The suit had caught the eyes of people all across the globe, and was much appreciated. The company acquired the suit through an auction for the noble cause of raising fund for the cleaning and preservation of River Ganga. Apart from contributing to the cause, they intend to inspire other states and people to come forward and do their bit for the development of the nationa .

Improving healthcare: Dharmanandan always focuses on improving healthcare by running programmes on mother-child care, providing free-of-cost vaccination and treatment for pregnancy related problems. Being the President of Samast Patidar Samaj, Laljibhai and Dharmanandan have been involved with the state-of-the-art hospital, a first of its kind project in Gujarat for diamond cutters and their family.

Organizing blood donation camp: Every year Dharmanandan organizes blood donation camps for accident victims, innocent children suffering from thalassemia, pregnant women, cancer patients and others in life-threatening situations and die due to shortage of blood. They have contributed 4,681 bottles of blood over the years.

Undertaking educational enlightment : Acting on the theme of ‘Educating India is Growing India’, Laljibhai facilitates Gurukul and its 22 branches in Surat and Hyderabad where about 22,000 children seek education and spiritual enlightenment.

Excursion for school: Dharmanandan organized excursion for students of SMC School, Veer Bhagat Singh to build up City Science Centre to their imagination about science-related projects.

TB check-up and treatment camp: To making it a ‘A Fitness Year’ for its employees and the society, Dharmanandan Charitable Trust had organized a free TB check-up and treatment camp in association with Surat Municipal Corporation.

Help Bring Hopes campaign: Dharmanandan has donated bikes for the disabled. With the campaign ‘Help Bring Hopes’, the company donated about 350 tricycles, walkers and sticks.

Scholarship enlightenment programme: The objective of this programme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to the Dharmanandan family so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education.

Dharmanandan is always in the forefront of various societal initiatives like building schools in tribal regions, constructing toilets under the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, solemnizing more than hundred marriages of needy daughters, providing free-of-charge treatment and medication to the needy, equipment and artificial limbs to disabled, running ambulance service and constructing old-age homes.

Unique initiatives: The River Linking Project has benefitted 50,000 people of Ugamedi village and surrounding areas. Now not only Ugamedi, but twenty villages in more than 17,000 hectares of land in the neighbourhood receive benefits. The ponds in these villages remain filled with water throughout the year and during the season it recharges water table by four times of its total storage capacity. It also raised the water table by average 40ft. The farmers now have become economically sound as they can annually harvest up to three crops compared to hardly one crop.
