EMP 5th Edition Advances with Focus on Export Readiness and Trade Tools

The 5th edition of GJEPC’s Exporter Mentorship Programme (EMP) entered its second week with a series of practical sessions aimed at preparing aspiring exporters for international markets. The handholding programme covered export readiness, documentation, trade intelligence and logistics.

Dr. Tamanna Chaturvedi opened the week with a session on export readiness, guiding participants through market assessment, product selection, global demand trends and competitive analysis. The session also highlighted the role of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), government support schemes, market intelligence tools and digital platforms in expanding exports.

In a separate session on product selection, Dr. Chaturvedi discussed the importance of analysing consumer preferences, trade regulations and market entry barriers while identifying countries with strong export potential. Participants were also introduced to strategies for leveraging FTAs to improve competitiveness and access new markets.

Mr. Amit Mulani conducted a session on documentation and GST, providing an overview of international payment mechanisms and the risks associated with export transactions. He explained escrow systems and open credit arrangements, emphasising the need for complete export documentation and cautioning exporters to extend credit only to trusted buyers.

Dr. Rashmi Arora introduced participants to trade intelligence platforms, explaining how digital tools can help exporters identify global opportunities, understand regulations and connect with buyers. The session underscored the growing importance of data-driven decision-making in international trade.

Another session by Mr. Amit Mulani focused on cargo and e-commerce export procedures for the gems and jewellery sector. Participants received guidance on duty-free procurement of precious metals, customs clearance processes, logistics options and compliance requirements for international shipments.

The second week of the EMP programme continued GJEPC’s efforts to equip emerging exporters with practical knowledge and industry insights required to build sustainable export businesses.
