The Government of Tamil Nadu, in coordination with the Zonal Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Chennai, organised an FTA Outreach Programme in Chennai on 30 October 2026 to familiarise exporters, MSMEs and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) with the opportunities available under India’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
The programme focused on building awareness of India’s FTAs, exploring export opportunities and improving access to international markets for businesses in Tamil Nadu.

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) participated in the programme, with Dhiaan Shakthi Srinivasan, Director of Business Development at Emerald Jewel Industry India Limited, speaking on the benefits of FTAs for the Indian gem and jewellery industry. He highlighted the opportunities that trade agreements offer jewellery exporters in accessing international markets and strengthening their export competitiveness.
The outreach initiative is part of the broader effort to familiarise businesses across states with the benefits of India’s trade agreements and encourage greater participation in global trade.
