The GJEPC Webinar on 1st October provided updates on Importer Exporter Code (IEC) De-activation and the Refund of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP). Moderated by Ashok Gajera, Western Regional Chairman, GJEPC, the session was aimed at sensitising Council members about the urgent need of IEC updation and consequences of non-compliance with the government norms.
The invited guest speakers were Pranav Pagaria, Associate Partner, ELP and Sachin Jain, Principal Associate – Tax, ELP. The webinar was attended by around 100 participants.
The speakers provided brief analysis of the Trade Notice No. 18/2021-2022 dated 20.09.2021, Notice No. 76/2021-Customs (N.T.) dated 23.09.2021, and IEC Trade Notice No. 18/2021-22 Dated 20.09.2021. The attendees were also briefed about the background and step by step procedure for filing of IEC, Modifications in IECs / e-IECs which can be done online only. They were also informed about RoDTEP rates for various gems and jewellery commodities in comparison with MEIS Rates.
