Diamonds Do Good’s 2023 Grants to Uplift Natural Diamond Communities Across Africa, Canada & India

With industry support from its 2022 NextGen Awards, Diamonds Do Good announced that $300,000 was granted to beneficiaries spanning diamond mining and manufacturing communities across three continents.

Anna Martin, President, Diamonds Do Good, said, “This is a testament to the unique role Diamonds Do Good serves the industry as the only grant giving organization solely representing natural diamond communities and telling these real stories of real impact to consumers.”

Putting action behind the consumer confidence-building message that Diamonds Do Good promotes, the grants will support girls’ education, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment and higher education opportunities.

  • In Africa, grants are being given to support girls education in Tanzania via the Flaviana Matata Foundation and to empower youth afflicted with HIV through Sentebale in Botswana.
  • In the Northwest Territories of Canada, technical training scholarships for diamond industry jobs as well as entrepreneurship studies will be given to youth from indigenous communities through the Mine Training Society.
  • 2023 marks an expansion of the Diamonds Do Good Entrepreneurship Grants Program to India for projects related to the natural diamond and jewellery industry. Diamonds Do Good also continues to support higher education via Veerayatan, based in western Gujarat.

“These grants will help promote meaningful change for communities where natural diamonds are mined, cut, polished and sold and gives industry members a purpose-driven message to share with consumers,” said Nancy Orem Lyman, Executive Director, Diamonds Do Good.

Diamonds Do Good will host its 2023 GOOD Awards on 1st June from 6-9pm at the Palazzo Ballroom, Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
