Mumbai-based Studio Renn, founded in 2018 by Rahul and Roshni Jhaveri, announces the first foray into the Middle East through its showcase as a part of Sotheby’s Modern & Contemporary Jewelry Series in Dubai that runs from 2nd October – 27th October 2023. The showcase will include a 50-piece oeuvre from [Prime]al.
True to its name ‘Renn’, meaning rebirth, the Studio explores concepts and perspectives, abstract ideas and feelings through fine jewellery.
[Prime]al comprising simple abstract forms in gold, diamonds and precious gemstones, was born from a poem, “Eyes Open,” written by Co-founder & Creative Director Rahul Jhaveri.The works within [Prime]al express the complexity and importance of ideas of protection, cyclicity, fertility, abundance and the perceptions of time and space.
“[Prime]al is an ambitious effort at the Studio to create a distinctive contemporary aesthetic – one that is our own. It started with a study of indigenous art – not what they made, but why and how. We attempted to follow the same creative process of abstraction while creating these works,” explains Rahul Jhaveri.
The Modern & Contemporary Jewelry Series by Sotheby’s is forward-thinking in its curation; one that highlights emerging and contemporary fine jewellers.
“Studio Renn is at the forefront of creativity and boundary-pushing – both in terms of their techniques and their materials. As a huge fan, I’m both honoured and excited to be bringing Studio Renn to Sotheby’s Dubai,” notes Paul Redmayne, Senior VP Luxury Sales, Sotheby’s.
The collection, comprising of bracelets, earrings and rings will be available for purchase on-site and online.
