Inspired by this rich legacy, IIJS Bharat – Signature 2027 unveils its thematic celebration under the Brilliant Bharat concept: "Handicrafts of India" an enduring legacy shaped by centuries of culture, craftsmanship and artistic expression.

India's handicrafts are more than expressions of art. They are living stories, shaped by hands and carried across generations.

These traditions find a natural resonance with the world of jewellery, where skill, detail and creativity similarly transform material into creations that preserve stories, celebrate identity and carry heritage into the future.

The Craftsmanship
of Indian Heritage

Indian handicrafts and jewellery share a common language — artistry, craftsmanship and storytelling.

Every handcrafted creation carries the imprint of the maker. Every technique reflects generations of knowledge. Every detail connects the present with a rich cultural past.

From the ancient lost-wax technique of Dhokra to the playful forms of Channapatna Toys, from the vivid craftsmanship of Charma Karya to the narrative tradition of Kaavad, each craft reveals a distinctive perspective on making, meaning and heritage.

Much like these enduring traditions, jewellery is more than an expression of beauty. It is a reflection of heritage, craftsmanship and stories carried forward through time.

Craft Traditions

A Shared Language of Craft

Drawing inspiration from India’s rich legacy of handicrafts, we explore the shared language of artistry, craftsmanship and storytelling that connects these time-honoured traditions with the world of jewellery. From the narrative doors of Kaavad and the vivid tales of Cheriyal to the expressive colours of Blue Pottery and the intricate artistry of Bidri, each craft reveals a unique perspective on making and meaning. The ancient technique of Dhokra, the playful forms of Channapatna Toys and the skilled craftsmanship of Charma Karya further celebrate traditions shaped by generations of master artisans. Much like these enduring crafts, jewellery is more than an expression of beauty—it is a reflection of heritage, craftsmanship and stories carried forward through time. These traditions find a natural resonance with the world of jewellery, where skill, detail and creativity similarly transform material into creations that preserve stories, celebrate identity and carry heritage into the future.
